Information Technologies Support Technician
Part 1: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES
The ideal functions of this position include the ability to:
- Provide technical advice, support, and installation of County Workstations.
- Strong knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware, Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2022, Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook, and RDP Configurations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory including policies.
- Knowledge of Document Management Systems, scanning and workflows
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
- Must be self-motivated and have excellent communication and user facing skills.
- This is a working position with some lifting, moving, and equipment removal required. The applicant must be able to lift 50 pounds and must be able to pass a drug screening test and background check.
Part 2: Workstation Support
- Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
- Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software.
- Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.
- Modify and customize commercial programs for internal needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve computer problems, determining source of computer problems (hardware, software, network, user access, etc.).
- Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to Director for service.
- Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors
- Perform proactive security measures to protect servers, Network, PCs and phones.
- Develops and implements preventative maintenance procedures for workstations, including internet security protection
- Provides training in the proper use of county standard software packages
- Maintains an accurate inventory of all hardware and software utilized by the County
- Assists in the development and maintenance of accurate documentation for all aspects of the County’s computing environment.
- Assists in the development and communications of standards for use, operations, and security of network, personal computers, and data.
- Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories and security.
- Researches and evaluates new technologies.
- Maintains the County’s VoIP phone system and phones.
- Maintain the county’s webpage.
- Other Duties as assigned by Information Technology Director
Part 3: Communications
- Maintain record of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial action taken, and installation activities.
- Utilize the I.T. Work Request forms per County directives.
- Meets with Director as needed to address pending issues.
- Coordinates with the Information Technology Director in implementing changes.
- Provide technical assistance to computer system users. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for users in person, via telephone, email, or from remote location.
- May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.
- Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.
- Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
- Answer users' inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problems.
- Responds to the needs and questions of system users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.
Part 4: Training
- Develop training materials and procedures, and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and software.
- Read trade magazines and technical manuals, and attend conferences and seminars to maintain knowledge of hardware and software.
- Provide computer orientation to new county staff.
Part 5: Requirements
- Applicant must have an associate degree in computer science or computer technologies and/or equivalent experience.
- Applicant must have A+ certification.
- One-year prior I.T. Experience preferred.
- Joomla experience preferred.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- This position will be a full-time, salary, unclassified position which includes retirement and benefit package.
- Starting Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $20.00 commensurate with experience.
- Successful candidate will be required to pass a drug screen and back ground check.
