Food Assistance 

 The Food Assistance program is designed to raise nutritional levels, to expand buying power, and to safeguard the health and well-being of individuals in low income households in Ohio. A household may consist of an individual or a group of individuals who live together and usually purchase, prepare, and eat their food together.

In order to qualify for the Food Assistance Program, households must meet several program specific requirements including income limits. All able-bodied adults are also required to participate in work program activities.

Based on feedback, we wanted to make the following information easily accessible as you’re assisting cardholders:

Will this change affect how I shop in stores?
There is no change to using your EBT card in-person at an Ohio grocery store when you pay at a POS device. However, you will need to temporarily remove the “Block High-Risk Transactions” if you:

• order groceries for pickup or delivery
• shop out of state, including border states (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia)
• use the scan and go self-checkout at the store (such as Meijer’s “Shop & Scan,” and Sam’s Club’s “Scan & Go!”)

Cards can be locked or unlocked at any time through any of the following options, available 24/7:

• On the official ConnectEBT app
• Online at ConnectEBT.com
• By calling 1‑866‑386‑3071

The best protection to secure SNAP benefits is by keeping cards locked when not actively making a purchase.
