House Arrest

Introduced in 2004, the house arrest program provides the Gallipolis Municipal Court with another alternative for sentencing.

Previously, the court could sentence an offender to jail time and/or community service.

Under the new house arrest program, defendants are closely monitored electronically to ensure they remain at home at the times required by the court.

High-tech ankle bracelets, such as the one pictured, are electronically connected to a monitoring device that notified the Gallipolis Municipal Court by telephone when an offender is out of range, or if the connector is cut.

The new system allows non-violent offenders to continue working in order to pay fines and restitution.

The cost of the house arrest program is an initial hook-up fee of $50.00. The daily fee is $10.00 per day.
