The Gallipolis Fire Department is responsible for the protection of 15,453 people who live in 93.5 square miles in beautiful southern Ohio. This includes the City of Gallipolis, Addison, Clay, Gallipolis, and Green Townships. The City is bordered by the Ohio River and is passed through by US 35 from Charleston West Virginia to Dayton Ohio.

 

Fire Chief William R. (Bob) Poling, who has served the department for 26 years, leads the department into action. Our department operates out of two stations with 33 volunteers specializing in fire suppression, limited search and rescue operations, hazards material response, and limited water rescues.

 

Total 2006 Emergency Responses: 273

 

These responses included all fires (structure, vehicle, trash, brush, dumpster, electrical and outdoor), auto accidents, rescues, special assignments, bomb threats, hazardous materials incidents, and mutual aid calls.
