What
is Police Exploring?
Who
can be a Police Explorer?
Any
young man or young woman can sign up to be a Police Explorer. You must be from
14 (four-teen) to 21 (twenty-one) years of age, must accept the Explorer Code,
and must maintain good grades in school.
What's
in it for me? Experience
and Challenge. If you are considering making Law Enforcement a future career,
then this is the program for you.

We meet monthly every third Wednesday at 7:00PM at the Police Department, at

Explorer
Post 200 History and Additional Information
Due
to the High-Risk situations officers become involved in it is most likely that
the explorer will view most calls from the interior of the cruiser.
The
Gallipolis Explorer Post 200 is headed by Sergeant Matt Champlin, and is
currently made up of eight young men ranging in age from Fourteen years of age
(who have completed the eighth grade) to Twenty-one years of age The Gallipolis
Explorer post was started by Ptl. Greg Frazier and Chief of Police
Clinton Patterson and has been a success since that time. The Explorer
post is a community oriented organization which helps out with special details
such as parades, festivals, and other community oriented functions. How

that you will need to purchase once your are a Police Explorer ·
Explorer uniform that includes pants and shirt with patches · Optional
Items: Duty belt
that includes: handcuff case with handcuffs,flashlight ring, belt keepers (4
needed), trouser belt, radio holder. ·
· The Gallipolis Police Department Explorer Program
also provides non-hazardous law enforcement experience to those young people who
have demonstrated sufficient interest by active participation in the Post
activities. These activities include, but are not limited to, Traffic Control,
Ride-Along program, and assistance to the Police Department in Auxiliary
services (such as a search for a missing child/ adult, or the collection of
evidence from a crime scene).
These are pictures of a fire we had on Second Avenue. The fire
destroyed several of the city's historical buildings which were also businesses.
The Explorers were called in to help direct traffic and also to help save some
items from buildings before the fire could reach them.
