The City of Gallipolis, Construction and Zoning Department is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed for lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.) Monday thru Friday.

The department is responsible for the following:

1. Reviewing and permitting of all construction and zoning projects in the City such as follows:

a. New structures/additions/alterations including porches, canopies,
awnings.
b. Demolition of structures
c. Maintenance of structures
d. Fences over 4 feet high
e. New signs larger than 16 s.f. and all signs in the Historic District
f. Paving over 100 s.f. (concrete or asphalt)
g. Rezoning of land
h. Pools over 3000 gallons
i. Floodplain development
(State Permits are the responsibility of the owner/contractor)

2. Enforcement of the City Zoning Ordinance and Property Maintenance Code.

3. City Floodplain Administration including review and permitting of all floodplain projects within the City.

4. Updating of the City Zoning Map.

5. Licensing of the Amusement Devices within the City.

6. Permitting of yard sales.

7. Coordination and Support for various review boards including:

a. City Planning Commission
b. Board of Zoning Appeals
c. Historic Preservation Review Board

8. Addressing of new properties.

9. Census support.

10. Tax Abatement
